St. Thomas Water Island Administrator Barbara Petersen said Tuesday that the Bunker Hill roadway which leads south from the top of Mafolie Hill to Garden Street will be closed to vehicular traffic on Thursday, October 13, 2011 to accommodate a clean-up operation of the swale which runs along the roadway as well as debris removal. The road closure will be in effect from 9 am to 4 pm.
“We are appealing to all who regularly park on Bunker Hill to remove their vehicles by 9 am on Thursday to allow the cleanup to take place. We are carrying out this clean up on a day when there are no scheduled cruise ship visits so as to minimize the impact of the road closing on traffic flow in downtown St. Thomas,” she said.
Petersen said it is important that no one parks on the roadway during the day on Thursday. Personnel will be on site from early in the morning reminding motorists of the road closing and that parking is not allowed during the day on Thursday.
