On this week’s edition of Eye on the Islands, Police Commissioner Novelle E. Francis, Jr. discusses the federal consent decree the Virgin Islands Police Department is operating under. Several years ago, a pattern of excessive force by police officers landed the department under the decree. Host Sara Lezama leads the discussion with Commissioner Francis about whether federal involvement is necessary and beneficial as the department addresses the concerns expressed in the consent decree. During the discussion, the commissioner will shed light on the process and the outcome of the decree.
Eye on the Islands is produced by Lambert Media Team for the V.I. Government Access Channels. The program airs Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 7 and 10 p.m. on Innovative Cable Channel 6 on St. Croix and Innovative Cable Channel 10 on St. Thomas- St. John. Eye on the Islands also airs on weekends at 12 noon and 6 p.m.
