Governor de Jongh Nominates Steve Brow as Fire Services Director

Governor John P. de Jongh has nominated Steve Brow to serve as the next director of the Virgin Islands Fire Service. In a recent letter to Senate President Ronald Russell, the governor requested the 29th Legislature's advice and consent in installing Brow as the top firefighter in the Virgin Islands.

Brow has served as Acting Fire Director since the beginning of the year. Before that, he was St. Croix Fire Chief. He has been with the Fire Service for more than 20 years, starting as a firefighter in 1990. “I think you will find his dedication and commitment to the Virgin Islands, and in particular to the Fire Services, make him a true public servant,” the governor wrote.

De Jongh requested the Legislature promptly confirm Brow’s nomination. When confirmed by the Senate, Brow will replace Victor Browne who has assumed the leadership of the Law Enforcement Planning Commission, LEPC. “Steve Brow, a graduate of St. Croix Central High School, is a tested leader who understands the needs of this community, and he is the right person to ensure the Fire Service best protects the lives and property of Virgin Islanders,” the governor said.
