Portion of Crystal Gade to Close March 9-11 for Cleaning
and Securing Scene of Recent Fire

St. Thomas-Water Island Administrator Barbara A. Petersen has announced the closing of a portion of Crystal Gade and Synagogue Hill from midnight on March 9 until the end of the day on Friday, March 11. “The portion of the roadway to be closed extends from the intersection of the Reformed Church to the left turn just below the St. Thomas Synagogue,” Petersen said.

The Administrator said the road closure will facilitate the Department of Public Works cleaning and securing the scene of a fire a few weeks ago. “DPW is expected to stage heavy equipment, roll on roll off bins and other apparatus needed to facilitate this clean up which has made the road closure necessary.”

During the road closure which begins on Tuesday night at midnight, there will no parking allowed on the left side of the roadway. Crews will provide access for motorists who reside in the area. Any vehicles parked in violation of the road closure will be subject to being ticketed and towed at the owner’s expense. “We appreciate the public’s cooperation during this cleanup operation which is a joint initiative of my office and the Public Works Department,” Petersen said Monday.
