The Office of the Governor announces the cancellation of the reception previously scheduled to be held after the State of the Territory Address at Estate Catharineberg on Monday, January 24, 2011.
Given the tough fiscal realities the territory is facing now and in the foreseeable future, and while the Virgin Islands continues to recover from the devastating effects of the Great Recession, a decision was announced on Friday evening to cancel the event which traditionally follows the governor’s annual State of the Territory Address.
Government House Director of Communications Jean P. Greaux, Jr. said that the governor regrets any inconvenience this announcement may cause to those who had planned to attend.
