Governor de Jongh
Submits Legislation to Reflect His Administration's
Intention Not to Consider the Sale of Real Estate Property Tax Receipts
for FY 2007
This morning, Governor John P. de Jongh, Jr. submitted to the 28th Legislature, an additional amendment to Bill 28-0227, legislation that will be considered by the Senate in its next regular session on Tuesday, May 4.
de Jongh
explained, just as the administration’s financial team did during an April 14th Senate Committee of the Whole Hearing, that it has been his intention to delete the portion of Subsection 2 of the bill that would have authorized the government to sell real estate property tax receipts collected for Fiscal Year 2007. “The proposed amendment deletes that portion of Subsection 2 of Bill 28-0227, and therefore, accurately reflects my Administration’s intention not to consider this as an option,”
de Jongh wrote in today’s letter to Senate President Louis Patrick Hill.

RE: Proposed Additional Amendment to Bill No. 28-0227
Dear President Hill:
I submit the attached proposed Amendment to Bill
28-0227 for consideration during its Regular Session scheduled for May 4, 2010. During the Committee of the Whole meeting on
April 14, 2010, my Financial Team stated that my intention was to delete the portion of
subsection 2 of Bill No. 28-0227 that would have authorized the Government to sell real property
tax receipts collected for Fiscal Year 2007.
This proposed amendment deletes that portion of subsection 2 of Bill No.
28-0227, and therefore, accurately reflects my Administration's intention not to consider this as an option.
Sincerely,
John P. de Jongh, Jr.
Governor
