Makes Nominations to the Board of Land Use Appeals and the
Historic Preservation Fund Commission
Governor John P. de Jongh, Jr.,
Monday, announced the nominations of James Benton and Roberto C. Cintron to the Land Use Appeals Board for the district of St. Croix and the reappointment of
John P. Woods for the St. Thomas-St. John district board.
Benton is the founder of J. Benton Construction. Over the course of his career, he has managed nearly $200 million in construction projects. He is a graduate of Wentworth Institute of Technology. Cintron has been Assistant Commissioner of the Virgin Islands Department of Public Works since April 2007. Before that, he was the St. Croix District Engineer for Public Works. He holds a Bachelor's of Science degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Florida. Both Mr. Benton and Mr. Cintron are filling vacancies on the Land Use Appeals Board.
Woods, a St. Thomas architect, is the Principal of Jaredian Design Group. He is a graduate of Charlotte Amalie High School and obtained his Bachelor's of Architecture from the Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art. Once confirmed by the Senate, Woods will be serving his second term on the board.
Also on Monday, de Jongh announced the appointment of
Matthias Eckstein to the Virgin Islands Historic Preservation Commission for the St. Thomas-St. John District. Eckstein is President of Irie Associates. He was born in West Germany and is a graduate of Ohio State University. He will be replacing Leo Francis on the commission.
All of the nominations
require confirmation by the 28th Legislature.
