Governor de Jongh Expresses Sadness on Death on Former Finance
Commissioner Rudolph E. Krigger

Governor John P. de Jongh, Jr. Tuesday expressed great sadness on the passing of former Finance Commissioner Rudolph E. Krigger. “As Commissioner of Finance, Mr. Krigger served the people of the Virgin Islands admirably. He was an effective leader who imparted his volumes of experience on many Virgin Islanders, among them, the current Finance Commissioner, Angel E. Dawson, Jr.,” de Jongh said.

The people of the Virgin Islands have lost a dedicated public servant who contributed much to the people of the territory through his years of public service. “My wife, Cecile, joins me in extending profound condolences to Mr. Krigger’s wife, Marilyn, their son Rudolph, Jr. and all members of the family who are today mourning the loss of this giant of a man,” de Jongh said.

Finance Commissioner, Angel Dawson, Jr., today offered his profound condolences on the passing of former Commissioner of Finance, Rudolph E. Krigger. “I was honored to work under Commissioner Krigger during the second term of Governor Farrelly’s Administration,” Commissioner Dawson stated. “I learned a tremendous amount from him, not only about finance and administration, but about being an effective leader. Although he had the bearing of a military man, he had the heart of an angel.” Dawson added, “It was, truly, one of the highlights of my life to have Rudolph E. Krigger and his wife Marilyn in attendance at my Swearing-In Ceremony as Commissioner of Finance on May 27, 2009. Today, as I sit in the very spot formerly occupied by Commissioner Krigger, I am saddened to know that I will no longer be able to rely upon his learned counsel and words of wisdom. I am, however, comforted, by the knowledge that he imparted to me all that he could, and I shall forever treasure his memory and value his mentorship and friendship.”
