| WHEREAS, the
University of the Virgin Islands, similar to
institutions of higher learning across the
nation, will observe National Student Employment
Week from April 10-16, 2011; and
WHEREAS, Student
Employment Programs offer students an
opportunity to gain meaningful work experience
and serve as a retention effort for students in
higher education; and
WHEREAS, The
government and private sectors in the Virgin
Islands benefit from student employees and the
experience these students gain; and
WHEREAS, the
University of the Virgin Islands honors both
employers of students and their student
employees who have been successful in the
workforce while continuing to neet the rigors of
their academic studies;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, John P.
deJonqh, Jr., Governor of the
United States Virgin Is1ands, by virtue of the authority vested
in me by the Revised Organic Act of 1954, as amended, do hereby
proclaim April 10-16, 2011, as "National
Student Employment Week" in the United
States Virgin Islands. I urge all residents to join me in this
special observance and to support our
Rotary clubs and their endeavors.
