Gubernatorial Proclamation - Student Employment Week

Governor John P. de Jongh, Jr. has proclaimed the week of April 10-16, 2011 as “Student Employment Week” in the U.S. Virgin Islands to recognize the benefit to the public and private sectors from student employees and to underscore the value of the experience these students gain in their jobs and internships.

The University of the Virgin Islands, like other institutions of higher learning across the nation, is observing National Student Employment Week. The university honors both employers and their student employees who have been successful in the workforce while continuing to meet the demands of their academic studies.

Student employment programs offer students opportunities to gain meaningful work experience, and likewise assist students in their higher educational pursuits.

Governor de Jongh urges all Virgin Islanders to join him in supporting students who have entered the workforce, and the employers who hire them.
