| WHEREAS,
the month of February is designated nationally
as "Dental Health Month," in
cojunction with the American Dental Health
Association with concentration on efforts to
promote dental health education; and
WHEREAS,
good health, physical and mental can be achieved
through good health habits learned early and
practiced throughout each individual's life; and
WHEREAS,
good dental health, including good eating
habits, good hygiene habits and regular
check-us, are essential to one's overall well
being and good dental health; and
WHEREAS,
the Virgin Islands Department of Health, through
its Division of Dental Health Services, annually
marks this observance
by conducting dental health screenings,
examiniations, public education and related
activities in our schools; and
WHEREAS,
the future of the Territory is, to a large
measure, directly related and dependent on the
good health of our children, the leaders of
tomorrow and our adults, the citizens of today;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, John P. de
Jongh, Jr., Governor of the United States Virgin
Islands, by virtue of the authority vested in me by Section 11 of the Revised Organic Act of 1954, as amended, do hereby
proclaim the month of February 2011 as
"Dental Health Month." I urge all
residents and community organizations to join
with me in this observance.
