Small
Business Week in the United States Virgin
Islands
WHEREAS, May
30th-June 5, 2010 has been designated as
"Small Business Week" in the United
States Virgin Islands; and
WHEREAS,
during Small Business Week we honor
entrepreneurs and small business owners who
are the engine of our economy for their
important role ensuring that America remains
the economic leader of the world. Every day,
our Nation's small businesses help enhance the
lives of our citizens and lead the way in an
economy distinguished by sustained job
creation, and one of the fastest growth rates
of any industrialized nation; and
WHEREAS, Small
businesses are the lifeblood of our islands,
and we salute small business owners, entrepreneurs
and employees for enhancing our communities
and expanding opportunities for all. The hard
work and ingenuity of our islands'
small business men and women are helping to
sustain America's economic strength;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, John P.
de Jongh, Jr., Governor of the United States Virgin Islands, by virtue of the authority vested in me by the Revised Organic Act of 1954, as amended, do hereby proclaim
May 30th-June 5, 2010 as “Small Business
Week” in the United States Virgin Islands. I
call upon the people of the Territory to join
with me in this observance as we celebrate the
accomplishments of small business owners and
their employees and encouage the development
of new small businesses.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the
Seal of the Government of the United States Virgin Islands
to be affixed at Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas, Virgin
Islands, this 28th day of May, A.D., 2010.
