Gubernatorial Proclamation - National Day of Prayer

Governor John P. de Jongh, Jr. has proclaimed Thursday as “National Day of Prayer” in the territory. This important day, during which we celebrate the unifying role prayer plays in our personal, family and community lives, has been marked on the first Thursday of May for 59 years.

As Americans, we cherish our freedom to worship, congregate and pray in public and private. Faith and prayer provide crucial guidance in our lives.

Observing National Prayer Day has become a unifying force for Americans and for Virgin Islanders of all religions and beliefs. Prayer unites people, helps them heal themselves and others and empowers them to overcome the challenges of life.

With thanks for our Heavenly Father’s continued guidance and salvation, Governor de Jongh asks Virgin Islanders to join him in observing the 59th annual National Day of Prayer.
