MEDICAL
LABORATORY WEEK IN THE VIRGIN ISLANDS
WHEREAS, professionals who practice in the medical
laboratory, including pathologists, medical technologists,
cytotechnologist., histotechnologists, medical laboratory
technicians, histologic technicians, and phlebotomists,
are invaluable members of the patient's health care team; and
WHEREAS, these
well-educated and highly-trained health professionals who perform and evaluate medical laboratory
tests to detect, diagnose, monitor treatment, and help prevent
diseases, save countless lives each day; and
WHEREAS, their dedication to quality
medical exceptional patient care is demonstrated
daily in
laboratories in well- being; and
WHEREAS, laboratory medicine is an honorable
vital to sustaining a high standard of health care;
testing and thousands of profession,
NOW, THEREFORE,
I, John P. de Jongh, Jr., Governor of the Virgin Islands of the United States, by virtue of the authority
vested in me by the Revised Organic Act of the
Virgin Islands, as amended, do hereby proclaim April 18th 24th, 2010 as
"MEDICAL LABORATORY WEEK" in the Virgin
Islands. I call upon residents of the Virgin Islands to join in this observance and
support these highly trained health professionals who provide
an invaluable service as part of our health industry.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused
the Seal of the Government of the Virgin Islands of the United
States to be affixed at Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas, Virgin
Islands, this 18th day of April, A.D., 2010.
