GOVERNOR AND FIRST LADY TO HONOR GRANDPARENTS IN THE TERRITORY

Governor John P. deJongh, Jr. and First Lady Cecile deJongh will honor grandparents and families during ceremonies to be held on St. Thomas and St. Croix in recognition of Grandparents Day, as proclaimed by Governor deJongh. On St. Thomas, this special observation will be recognized on Sunday, September 7th at 4:00 p.m. at Emancipation Gardens, and on St. Croix on Sunday, September 14th at 3:00 p.m. at the Agriculture Fairgrounds. Refreshments will be served. The ceremonies will include a candlelight vigil, and the Governor and First Lady will recognize the eldest grandparent in each of the two districts.

“Throughout our lives, our grandparents have provided comfort, motivation, and guidance to our families, and to the community at large. We are blessed to have their presence in our daily lives, and we rightly celebrate the special place they hold in our hearts. As we observe all that they provide for us as family members, stewards of the community, and as mentors, teachers, and friends, we proudly honor their impact on our society and celebrate their important links to history and tradition in total,” First Lady deJongh said.
