DEJONGH HAILS SELECTION OF BIDEN AS DEMOCRATIC VICE-PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE Ahead of his departure to the Democratic National Convention in Denver, Colorado this week, Governor John P. deJongh, Jr. on Saturday commended Senator Barack Obama on his recent selection of Senator Joe Biden (D-Delaware) to be his running mate on the Democratic ticket for President and Vice-President of the United States. "In selecting Senator Biden, Barack Obama has chosen a solid running mate who brings a great deal of experience both in foreign policy and bi-partisan cooperation," deJongh said, adding, "Senator Biden is a great choice to round out an already impressive and historic nomination." DeJongh said he is very much looking forward to getting to Denver next week and being a part of this historic moment in our nation’s history. As titular head of the V.I. Democratic Party, deJongh will lead the delegates from the Virgin Islands to the convention where Senator Obama is expected to accept the party’s nomination in the upcoming Presidential Election in November. |
