GOVERNOR TRAVELS TO WEST VIRGINIA TO ATTEND SOUTHERN GOVERNOR’S ASSOCIATION CONFERENCE

Governor John P. deJongh, Jr., departed the Virgin Islands Thursday afternoon for West Virginia to attend the Southern Governor’s Association Conference. This is the 74th Annual Meeting of the Association and is hosted by West Virginia Governor and SGA Chairman Joe Manchin, III.

The three-day conference features a variety of topics, including a roundtable discussion with U.S. Department of Labor Secretary Elaine Chao on issues impacting workforce development; a discussion with regional Federal Reserve Bank Presidents; and a panel discussion focusing on innovations and trends in government and in public/private partnerships. The final session will cover climate change and energy independence.

In his absence and in accordance with provisions of the Revised Organic Act of 1954, as amended, Lt. Governor Gregory R. Francis will serve as Acting Governor.

DeJongh returns to the Territory on Monday.
