GOVERNOR MAKES NOMINATION TO ST. CROIX HOSPITAL BOARD Before departing the territory for Washington, D.C. on Monday, Governor John P. deJongh, Jr. nominated Valdemar A. Hill, Jr. to serve on the St. Croix District Governing Board of the Government Hospitals and Health Facilities Corporation. When confirmed by the Senate, Hill will serve a three year term. In addition, he will also serve on the Board of Directors of the Hospital Corporation. "I selected Valdemar Hill Jr. with the expectation that his extensive training in leadership development and training consulting would bring an important skill set to the St. Croix hospital board," deJongh said. The nominee will tap his vast professional experiences to integrate the use of training and organization development and overall improved individual, group and organizational effectiveness. Hill, who is now pursuing a doctorate from Capella University, is the founder and president of The Hill Group, a leadership development and training consulting company. He previously held the position of manager, Human Resources / Training & Development at Hovensa. During his employment at Hovensa, Hill collaborated with the University of the Virgin Islands in the establishment of an Associate in Arts degree program in Process Technology. As the owner and president of Educational Dimensions, Inc. in the mid 1980’s, Hill provided management and technical consulting services to business firms and government agencies including the development of a student information system for the Education Department and conducted a territory-wide study and prepared a comprehensive job classification and salary/wage administration program for the V.I. Water and Power Authority. Hill’s professional experiences also include his serving as Director of Industrial Relations for the then Virgin Islands Telephone Corporation (VITELCO). He has served as a consultant to the U.S. Civil Service Commission, is a registered arbitrator with the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service and the V.I. Public Employees Relations and is a certified mediator with the local and federal courts in the territory. Hill has also served as an Associate Professor of Business Administration at the University of the Virgin Islands. The nomination of Valdemar Hill, Jr. is subject to the advice and consent of the 27th Legislature. |
