DEJONGH BRIEFED BY GUARDSMEN ON FUNCTIONS OF THE VIRGIN ISLANDS NATIONAL GUARD
Adjutant General of the Virgin Islands, Brigadier General Renaldo Rivera, opened the doors of the Virgin Islands National Guard recently, to provide insight on its operations, to Governor John P. deJongh, Jr. and members of the Government House Senior Staff at the VING’s facility in Sprat Hall, Frederiksted, St. Croix. Managers, personal staff, and commanders briefed their Commander-in-Chief on the Guard’s functionality, its capabilities and its ability to respond to events or disasters. Whether, the event or disaster is a preventative or a full response category. “I was pleased to spend most of the day with the guardsmen to get a first-hand account of the Virgin Islands National Guard’s state of readiness and to learn of the great extend of the VING’s capabilities,” deJongh said. The 23rd Civil Support Team (CST) set up displays of its response equipment and specialty vehicles. The commander of the 23rd CST, Major Kenneth Alleyne, hosted a luncheon at his facility for guests and participants. Lieutenant Colonel Edgardo Morales, State Army Aviation Officer, arranged for the placement of an OH-58 helicopter on the grounds of Sprat Hall. Governor deJongh accepted the opportunity to flyover the Frederiksted town and west-end shoreline on the helicopter. |
