GOVERNOR IN WASHINGTON D.C. THIS WEEK FOR MEETINGS WITH MEMBERS OF THE APPROPRIATIONS COMMITTEES IN BOTH HOUSES OF CONGRESS

Governor John P. deJongh, Jr. departed the territory Tuesday afternoon for meetings in Washington, D.C.

Government House Communications Director Jean Greaux, Jr. said the meetings are with senior members of the Senate and House Appropriations Committees. "DeJongh will discuss funding for a variety of key Virgin Islands priorities included the development of a state of the art enhanced 911 communications system for the Territory as well as upgrades to health-care facilities and highway improvements."

In his absence and in accordance with provisions of the Revised Organic Act of 1954, as amended, Finance Commissioner Claudette Watson-Anderson will serve as Acting Governor until Lt. Governor Gregory R. Francis returns on Thursday afternoon. Francis will assume the Acting Governor duties until deJongh returns to the territory at the end of the week.
