GOVERNOR DEJONGH HAS PROCLAIMED PUBLIC SERVICE RECOGNITION WEEK IN THE UNITED STATES VIRGIN ISLANDS Gov. John P. deJongh, Jr. has proclaimed the week of May 19-23, 2008, as "Public Service Recognition Week," in the United States Virgin Islands. The Territory, which will be celebrating its 19th annual celebration, will be joining the fifty states and territories in recognizing outstanding employees for their performance and efforts to improve public service. The people of the Virgin Islands, through innumerable contributions in advancing the science, processes, and art of public administration, have improved the administration of the public service at all levels of government and in all functional and program fields. Particular recognition is due to reinforce the value and worth of public service employees who, through a cast of mind, a corpus of theory and knowledge, a social ideal, ethical standards and formal organization, promote excellence in services to individuals, organizations, and the public at large. It is fitting and proper that we honor and commend those employees who have been selected by their respective departments and agencies as "Employee of the Year" for their diligence, outstanding work, and contributions to their departments and agencies. "I encourage all residents of our community and society, public and private sectors, to support programs promoting improved understanding and strengthened administration of public service through the interchange and identification of common public administration goals and objectives, and honoring outstanding public service employees within each department and agency of the Government of the Virgin Islands," concluded Gov. deJongh. |
