GOVERNOR DEJONGH PROCLAIMS VIRGIN ISLANDS POLICE WEEK IN THE UNITED STATES VIRGIN ISLANDS Gov. John P. deJongh, Jr. has proclaimed the week of May 11-17, 2008, as "Virgin Islands Police Week" and Thursday, May 15, 2008 as "Peace Officers Memorial Day." The U.S. Virgin Islands desires to honor the valor, service, commitment and dedication of its police officers. Law enforcement officers are our guardians of life and property, defenders of the individual rights to be free, and warriors in the war against crime. Governor deJongh calls upon the residents of the Territory to support our law enforcement officers, to strengthen the ties between the police and the community, and to express their sincere thanks and appreciation to these dedicated men and women. |
