GOVERNOR DEJONGH PROCLAIMS TEACHER’S DAY IN THE UNITED STATES VIRGIN ISLANDS

Gov. deJongh has proclaimed Friday, May 2, 2008 as "Teacher’s Day" in the U.S. Virgin Islands.

It is fitting that we honor our teachers, in both private and public schools, who by their continuous and tireless efforts, strive to improve and upgrade the standards of education for the benefit of the children of the U.S. Virgin Islands.

U.S. Virgin Islands’ teachers, through workshops, seminars and summer classes, continuously strive to upgrade themselves to impart new methods of teaching, all to the benefit of our children. The future of our children and youth of the U.S. Virgin Islands depends to a very large extent upon the training and instruction imparted by their teachers.

Teachers are urged to continue to provide our students with the highest standard of education possible, utilizing proven, effective methods of instruction, and to keep abreast of new developments in education while striving to improve themselves.
