GOVERNOR AND LICENSING COMMISSIONER MEETS WITH OFFICIALS OF ESSO VIRGIN ISLANDS TO DISCUSS SALE OF V.I. SERVICE STATIONS

Department of Licensing and Consumer Affairs Commissioner Kenrick Robertson said this week he does not expect any changes in the day to day operations of Esso Virgin Islands service stations as the result of the stations recent acquisition by Total. Total, an oil and gas company, headquartered in France announced its acquisition of the six Esso Virgin Islands stations earlier this week.

Governor John P. deJongh, Jr. and Commissioner Robertson met with company Esso Virgin Islands President Richard Lee and Terminal Operations Manager Gary Rodriquez to discuss the sale of the Esso Virgin Islands assets to Total Petroleum. “We had the opportunity to discuss their business and marketing plans for the newly acquired service stations and at the same time, restate our concerns about the high costs of gasoline that our residents face each day,” deJongh said.

DeJongh said his Administration looks forward to forging a harmonious business relationship with Total and will continue to work closely with all gasoline wholesalers and retailers in the interest of Virgin Islands consumers.

Total is the fourth largest oil and gas company in the world, it has drilling and exploration activities throughout the world, including Venezuela.
