FIRST LADY HOSTS "CHILDREN’S EASTER EVENTS"

As the community readies for the upcoming Easter holiday season, First Lady Cecile deJongh has announced plans to host the annual Children’s Easter celebrations on all three islands.

"I am excited about hosting this year’s events," said Mrs. deJongh. "Not only will our children get to enjoy traditional Easter festivities with the customary Easter basket and Easter eggs, but they will also have the opportunity to celebrate our culture in a theatrical setting. Instead of having an Easter egg hunt, the children will be treated to culturally relevant Easter entertainment."

The Easter events are open to all children age 10 and under and features an original skit written by Glenn “Kwabena” Davis and Edgar Lake, an original song written by Ulric Ferrari, book readings by the First Lady along with Mrs. Cheryl Francis, and of course, the Easter Bunny, who will be on hand to deliver Easter baskets to all the children. Disc Jockeys will also be on hand to provide music for the children’s listening pleasure.

The St. Thomas event will take place on Saturday, March 15, 2008 at the Charlotte Amalie High School Auditorium from 10:00-11:00 a.m. St. Croix’s event will also occur on Saturday, March 15, 2008, this time at the Island Center from at 3:00-4:00 p.m. The St. John event is set for Saturday, March 22, 2008 at the Frank Powell Band Stand in Cruz Bay from 10:00-11:00 a.m.
