GOVERNOR TOURS WASHINGTON, DC'S OFFICE OF UNIFIED COMMUNICATIONS

Gov. John P. deJongh, Jr. with Office of Unified Communications dispatchers Khalilah Parris and Doreen Carr.

While in Washington, D.C. last week, Governor John P. deJongh, Jr. toured the Office of Unified Communications in the nation’s capitol. The center’s mission is to provide a fast, professional, and cost-effective response to emergency and non-emergency calls in the District.

The OUC was created 2005 and consolidates the emergency 911, non-emergency and 311 call activities from the Metropolitan Police Department (MPDC), Fire and Emergency Medical Services (FEMS), and customer service operations.

While touring the facility, as the territory begins to revamp its 911 emergency dispatch system, deJongh was introduced to two 911 dispatchers who hail from St. Croix.
