DEJONGH WELCOMES STANFORD FINANCIAL GROUP TO ST. CROIX; ATTENDS GLOBAL MANAGEMENT HEADQUARTERS GROUNDBREAKING
Gov. John P. deJongh, Jr. Thursday commended Sir Allen Stanford and the Stanford Financial Group on the groundbreaking ceremony of the global management headquarters offices at Estate Betty’s Hope, adjacent to the Henry E. Rohlson airport, on St. Croix. The ceremony took place inside an air-conditioned tent and following the ceremony and reception, dignitaries participated in a traditional turning of the soil at the construction site. "Sir Allen Stanford has given us the tipping point to truly take off. The investment that has been made in St. Croix will make a tremendous difference in the financial sector in the territory, as well as worldwide, and will help to channel the skills and talents of our young people who are interested in a career in global finance and investment," deJongh said. "This is a company with a global vision that is leading the way in its industry. The culture of investment and further opportunity starts today, and the roadmap to success that is being put forward is a bright light to us all," deJongh continued. Other featured speakers at the ceremony included Executive Director, Virgin Islands Port Authority, Darlan Brin; Senate President of the 27th Legislature, The Honorable Usie R. Richards; and Chairman and CEO of Stanford Financial Group, Sir Allen Stanford. The Master of Ceremonies was St. Croix Native Son Laurence J. Richards, Managing Director, Stanford Caribbean Investments. Stanford Financial Group currently operates in one hundred thirty-six countries and six continents and is a participant of the V.I. Government’s EDC program.
