Governor proclaims Dental Health Month is the United States Virgin Islands

Gov. deJongh has proclaimed the month of February 2008, as “Dental Health Month” in the United States Virgin Islands.

The month of February is nationally designated as “Dental Health Month” in cooperation with the American Dental Health Association, with concentration on efforts to promote dental health education. The Virgin Islands Department of Health, through its Division of Dental Health Services, annually marks this observance by conducting dental health screenings, examinations, public education and related activities in our schools.

The future of the U.S. Virgin Islands is, to a large measure, directly related and dependent on the good health of our children, the leaders of tomorrow and our adults, the citizens of today.

Good health, physical and mental, can be achieved through good health habits learned early and practiced throughout each individual’s life. Good dental health, including good eating habits, good hygiene habits and regular check-ups, are essential to one’s overall well being and good dental health.

Gov. deJongh urges all residents and community organizations to join him in observing Dental Health Month.
