deJongh congratulates new Barbados Prime Minister

On behalf of the people of the U.S. Virgin Islands, Gov. John P. deJongh Jr. has congratulated the newly-elected Prime Minister of Barbados, David Thompson.

In a Friday letter to Thompson, deJongh wrote, "While there are many challenges facing Barbados and the rest of the Caribbean region, the people of Barbados have expressed full confidence in you." deJongh said he expects that Mr. Thompson’s government will meet these challenges head on, benefit from them and become a force in forging greater Caribbean unity.

"Be assured you have a friend in the U.S. Virgin Islands. We believe in the benefits of working together for mutual benefits for all of our peoples and for a strong progressive Caribbean," deJongh said.
