Governor congratulates Festival Committee on successful month-long holiday celebration Before departing the territory on Sunday, Gov. John P. deJongh, Jr. congratulated all participants in the Crucian Christmas Festival which ended on Saturday following a colorful and vibrant parade through the streets of Frederiksted. Visitors from throughout the territory, from other Caribbean islands, and elsewhere attended the celebrations, and it was a joyous, welcoming, and spirited series of activities and special events. "I was pleased to participate in a number of the Festival events and to be joined by so many friends in viewing the two parades on Friday and Saturday," deJongh said, adding, "A lot of work went into preparing for not only the parades but for the many events held over the course of the month-long celebration on St. Croix. I congratulate all the participants especially the young people who were afforded the opportunity to showcase their talents in so many venues." deJongh said it was clear that as he and Lt. Gov. Gregory Francis walked the parade route on Friday and Saturday, people from all walks of life were enjoying the Festival events. "I also extend sincere congratulations to the Festival Committee members for their dedication and hard work in producing a month-long celebration for everyone to enjoy." |
