DHPR to offer after school golf program; announces ping-pong tournament The Department of Housing, Parks and Recreation will hold what it hopes will become an annual table tennis or ping-pong tournament January 18-20, 2008 at the Winston Raymo Recreation Center on St. Thomas. Registration deadline is January 15. For additional information contact: Wayne Dawson, Derek Heyliger or Calvert White at 774-2640. The department also announces the formation of an After School Golf Program for ages 7-17. During the eight week course, students will learn: putting safety, chipping, pitching, driving, fairway woods and bunker shots. In addition, a review of the skills set will take place at both the Mahogany Run and UVI golf courses on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. The first twenty students will be accepted on a first come, first serve basis. Application for the program can be filed at the Winston Raymo Recreation Center from Monday thru Friday between the hours of 12 noon and 7 p.m. Additional information can be obtained by calling Derek Heyliger or Conrad Stancliffe at 774-2640. |
