GOVERNMENT OF THE UNITED STATES VIRGIN ISLANDS
VIRGIN ISLANDS WASTE MANAGEMENT AUTHORITY

September 25, 2007

Cyril E. King Airport Road closed at night for repairs

The Virgin Islands Waste Management Authority (VIWMA) advises St. Thomas motorists that the exit lane from the Cyril E. King Airport will be closed on Wednesday and Thursday evenings from 6pm to 6am.

The VI Waste Management Authority and its Task Order Contractor, H&R Mechanical will be replacing a 30-inch ductile iron sewer line with a 30-inch PVC line. The area will be compacted to the specifications of the VI Department of Public Works and paved over the weekend.

Motorists exiting the airport will be detoured through the Subbase area. The west-bound entrance to the airport will not be impacted by this work. Those entering the airport road eastbound on Julian Jackson Drive will have to either go up to the Moravian traffic light and enter through the westbound lane or use the entrance through Subbase.

All motorists are asked to reduce vehicular speed, adhere to all posted signs, and be aware of the crews and heavy equipment working in the area.

The VI Waste Management Authority apologizes for any inconvenience this project may cause as we continue to work toward improving the wastewater infrastructure.
