Governor visits campus of St. Croix Christian Academy; distributes backpacks to Kindergarten students

Governor John deJongh, Jr., distributes backpacks to kindergarten students at St. Croix Christian Academy during a midday visit on Wednesday, September 19, 2007.

Gov. John deJongh Jr. visited the campus of St. Croix Christian Academy on Wednesday afternoon and, while there, distributed backpacks to more than 90 kindergarten students at the school located at Five Corners.

The Chief Executive made the presentation on behalf of himself and Lt. Gov. Gregory R. Francis. The backpacks, which bears the seal of the Virgin Islands Government and the names of the Governor and Lt. Governor, were distributed to over 2,000 kindergarten students in public, private and parochial schools in both island districts over the last few weeks. “This was the opportunity for Greg (Francis) and I to welcome these young students into the world of learning and opportunity as they enter school for the first time,” deJongh said.

deJongh conversed with the students, faculty and staff during his near hour-long visit at the school Wednesday.
