Governor and Lt. Governor express sympathies on death of Mrs. Faye Liburd

Gov. John P. deJongh, Jr. and Lt. Gov. Gregory R. Francis late Thursday night extended condolences late to the family of Mrs. Faye Liburd who died at Schneider Hospital after a long illness. Liburd was the wife of former Senate President Almando "Rocky" Liburd and daughter of well-known culture bearer, Dorothy "Dottsie" Elskoe.

"I spoke with former Senator Liburd late this evening and conveyed to him the sympathies of the people of the Virgin Islands and those of my family," deJongh said. Francis, on St. Thomas Thursday night, said he and his wife, Cheryl, were saddened at news of the death of Mrs. Liburd. "The Virgin Islands community will keep Rocky and his family in their prayers during this most difficult period."

deJongh said it is always difficult when death occurs but the Liburd and Elskoe families should be reassured that Faye’s long suffering is over. "We pray that their burden of sorrow is somewhat lightened by the fond memories that will live on forever."

"May she rest in peace," deJongh concluded.
