Attorney General confirms Sunday escape of detainee from Golden Grove Detention Center
Attorney General Vincent Frazer has confirmed the escape of a detainee from the Golden Grove Adult Correctional Facility’s Detention Center. The detainee, 22-year-old Luis R. Torres, was discovered missing at 6:30 p.m. on Sunday June 3rd.
Frazer described Torres who goes by the nickname, "Puppet" as a Hispanic national who stands 5 foot 7, weighs about 140 pounds, black hair, brown eyes and a small body size. Torres was detained on charges of first-degree robbery, possession of stolen property and unauthorized use of a vehicle following his arrest May 15, 2007 and in lieu of $75,000 bail.
"Mr. Torres is known to frequent the Williams Delight area of St. Croix," Frazer said Monday adding that officers have been deployed to return the escapee to prison. "Anyone with information about the whereabouts of Luis R. Torres is encouraged to call the Virgin Islands Police Department at 778-2211 or 911 or the Golden Grove Correctional Facility at 778-0400."
