Fire Department lifts ban on burning
Due to the recent rain showers on St. Thomas, the Virgin Islands Fire Service is lifting the ban on burning that went into effect on February 14, 2007. Effective Wednesday, May 2nd, burning permits will be issued and burning will be allowed on the island of St. Thomas.
The ban will remain in effect for the island of St. John due to the dry vegetation that still exists. Conditions on St. John will continue to be monitored and the status on burning will be adjusted accordingly.
Persons with burning permits on St. Thomas that were affected by the ban, can bring their permits to our administrative offices located at #15 Crown Bay Fill to be credited time.
