deJongh proclaims "National Day of
Prayer"
Gov. John P. deJongh joins states and territories across the nation proclaiming May 3, as a
"National Day of Prayer," in the Virgin Islands. This year commemorates the 56th anniversary of this historic celebration with the theme
"America, Unite in Prayer."
In 1952 the Congress of the United States adopted a Resolution to set aside and proclaim the first Thursday of May of each year as a National Day of Prayer. Faith and prayer are important for the guidance they provide in our lives.
This annual observance has become a unifying force, not only for citizens of our great Nation, but also for residents of our territory.
