V.I. Fire Services seeking firefighters who have previously sat entrance examination to fill vacancies

St. John Fire Chief Glenn “Milo” Francis has issued a call for persons interested in becoming firefighters. The V.I. Fire Service is seeking to fill vacancies that exist in its manpower strength.

Francis said the call is aimed directly at those who have sat and successfully completed the entrance examination in 2005 but have not followed through with the Fire Service. "If you have taken the test, been notified by the Personnel Division and still have an interest in becoming a firefighter, you must contact the Administrative Office of the Fire Service immediately."

Francis said some applicants who have passed the entrance examination have not followed through in areas such as:

  • not previously submitting the required document package
  • having not taken the physical fitness test
  • having not been interviewed by the review board
  • having not received notification of disqualification

The administrative office of the V.I. Fire Service can be reached at 774-7610. For persons who have previously sat the firefighters examination, the deadline for contacting the V.I. Fire Service is May 11, 2007.
