Two youth fail to return to their residence at the St. Croix Crisis Center
Leroy Simon

The Departments of Human Services and Police this weekend reported that two youth ran away from the Crisis Center on St. Croix. The two are identified as Leroy Simon, 12, and Shawn Benjamin, 13, who had ran away last week and was returned on Friday April 20.

Human Services Commissioner Chris Finch and his senior staff were advised of the incident on Saturday afternoon around 2:30 p.m. "It is believed that Benjamin left the Crisis Center with another minor residing there at around 2:15 p.m.," Finch said.

Finch said that Simon’s guardian had been notified of his escape by officials at the Crisis Stabilization Center. Police Commissioner James McCall has contacted a relative of Shawn Benjamin who resides on St. Thomas to report his escape. Both Finch and McCall asked anyone with information on the whereabouts of Leroy Simon or Shawn Benjamin to contact authorities immediately. The two commissioners also indicated on Sunday that two girls who ran away from the center last week have still not returned to their residence.
