Update on investigation of recovered body

Attorney General Vincent Frazer and Police Commissioner James McCall this afternoon confirmed that a preliminary examination of the body of a young child recovered Wednesday night is that of 12-year-old Laquina Hennis who had been reported missing since Friday April 6. 

Additionally, Frazer and Mc Call confirmed that a previously identified person of interest, Daniel Castillo, 30, is presently in custody. 

Further information on the status of the investigation will be made available at a Friday morning news conference at 11 a.m. The news conference will be held on the campus of the University of the Virgin Islands in the Chase Auditorium on St. Thomas and the Melvin Evans Center on St. Croix. 

Governor John P. deJongh, Jr., will be in attendance at the news conference and will be addressing the people of the Virgin Islands about this recent tragedy.
