Governor and Lt. Governor to host open houses at Government House in both districts and at the Battery on St. John this month The public is reminded that Governor John P. deJongh, First Lady Cecile deJongh and Lt. Governor and Mrs. Gregory R. Francis will host open house events at Government House on St. Thomas and St. Croix and at the Battery on St. John this month. "We invite everyone in the community to come to Government House during these events to visit and exchange holiday cheer with the Governor, Lt. Governor and our families," First Lady Cecile deJongh said Monday. "Government House belongs to the people and we wanted to invite the community to come and enjoy the holiday decorations, partake in some Christmas cheer and music, and exchange holiday greetings in the spirit of the season," Gov. deJongh and Lt. Gov. Francis said. The St. Croix Open House is scheduled for Saturday, December 15 and will include a street side fair, titled "The Governor’s Vendors Fair" which begins at 11 a.m. The fair will be held along Queen Cross Street and in the Government House courtyard in Christiansted. Everything on sale at the fair will be locally made from: food, drinks, cakes, candies, gift items, artwork and other Christmas holiday delicacies. At 4 p.m. Saturday, the Open House will begin and residents of St. Croix can walk over to Government House and meet both the Governor and Lt. Governor. The Open House will be held in the Government House Ballroom on St. Croix. The open house on St. John will be held at the Battery at 5 p.m. on Thursday, December 20. The St. Thomas open house is scheduled for Saturday, December 22, at 4:00 pm at Government House. For two hours, residents can tour Government House and meet the Governor and Lt. Governor. The open house on St. Thomas will be followed by a Christmas Choir of Praise concert in Emancipation Garden. The concert begins at 6:00p.m., immediately following the open house. |
