Governor and First Lady to host children's Christmas parties

As the community readies for the upcoming Christmas holiday season, Governor John P. deJongh, Jr. and First Lady Cecile deJongh have announced plans to host the annual Children’s’ Christmas Parties on all three islands.

"During this holiday season, I am delighted to join my wife, Cecile, in hosting these special Christmas tributes for children of the territory. At this cherished time of year, it is important to spend time with children and to remind them of the shared love of this community and the wondrous traditions of Christmas," Governor deJongh said.

Members of the community are volunteering to assist in the special planning of the Christmas parties. As part of the administration’s commitment to education, and in the spirit of learning and involvement, children from grades Pre-K3 through 2nd have been invited from all public, private, and parochial schools throughout the territory. Plans have been made with those schools, through the Department of Education, to transport the children to the venues by special arrangement. Gifts will be provided and are within the educational theme. The schedule for the Children’s Christmas Parties is as follows:

  • St. John Children’s Christmas Party:
    Wednesday, December 12, 2007
    9:30 a.m. to12 Noon. Location: Cruz Bay Park
  • St. Croix Children’s Christmas Party:
    Frederiksted: Thursday, December 13, 2007
    8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Location: Frederiksted Band Stand

    Christiansted: Friday, December 14, 2007
    8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Location: Christiansted Band Stand
  • St. Thomas Children’s Christmas Party:
    Monday & Tuesday, December 17 & 18, 2007
    8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Location: Emancipation Garden
