Lady Extends Deadline on Healthy VI Challenge School Video Contest;
Student Participants Must Upload PSA's by May 22nd
First Lady Cecile de Jongh wishes to inform all participating public, private, and parochial schools for grade levels 7-10 throughout the Territory of an extension to the deadline for the Healthy VI Challenge school video contest. The new deadline to submit videos is May 22,
2009.
“I am pleased to learn of the many teams who have signed up to participate in this exciting contest. Throughout the Territory, students, parents, and teachers are working together to create informational and educational public service announcements on healthy living. I encourage all student teams who have registered online to finalize their projects in time for the new deadline. I look forward to watching all the videos and wish all participants good luck,” First Lady
de Jongh said.
In January 2009, the First Lady announced the launch of the Healthy VI Challenge initiative to raise awareness on overall health and wellness for all residents of the Territory. The school video contest gives students in grades 7-10 the opportunity to create personalized videos with a healthy message, including the importance of eating properly, avoiding drugs and alcohol, maintaining a positive attitude and good mental health.
Once videos are uploaded, members of the community will be able to vote for their favorite choices. Winning student PSAs will be featured on local television and radio. Cash award prizes will also be distributed to the winning teams and their respective schools.
