The 2011 Summer Reading Challenge will conclude on Friday, September 16.
“We ask that by this date, all students who participated in this year’s summer reading challenge turn in tracking sheets either to their teacher, school librarian, or return completed sheets to Government House,” Governor
de Jongh said today.
Students can also complete tracking sheets online by visiting the website www.readfive.org . On the island of St. Croix, tracking sheets can be dropped off to the three Governor’s offices on St. Croix and the two public libraries.
As an incentive to participate in the program, students who keep track of their reading and finish a minimum of five books this summer will be invited to a “Fun Day” with the governor; the event will recognize student achievement with awards and prizes. Details on the closing events will be revealed shortly.
The Governor’s Summer Reading Challenge is a partnership of the Office of the Governor, the Department of Education, the Virgin Islands Public Libraries, and Learn-It Systems Corporation.
